TATE DIGITAL WAYFINDER

Tate Map is an augmented reality concept app to help visitors find their way around the Tate. For first time visitors, the app will be the ideal companion to explore the museum.

It displays key information by floors, highlight unmissable artworks and notify relevant events and offers.

HOW IT WORKS

Once inside the museum a series of tracking points are picked up by the app that work together with a phones accelerometer, GPS and gyroscope. The front facing camera can understand what the user is looking at and overly new information in real time.

As a result, the app enhances one’s current perception of reality and the surrounding real world of the user becomes interactive and digitally manipulable.

THE EXPERIENCE

Implementing a lean startup approach, we developed this concept in a week. Guerrilla research was conducted to understand what essential information a visitor would need to explore the museum. Our findings helped us to define the digital experience and ultimately translate it into a video teaser.
